Jacob & Co. Just Launched an All-Blue Titanium Chronograph

The translucent blue crystal dial also allows you to glimpse the movement.

The latest watch from Jacob & Co. is cool in a lot of ways.

Aptly named Epic X Chrono Blue, this dazzling mechanical watch is almost entirely blue except for the hands, indexes and internals. As the name suggests, this chronograph is the latest model in the New York-based watchmaker’s popular Epic X Chrono series. It exudes the same sporty style as its predecessor, but stands out for its cool colorways.

The 44mm case and bezel are made of blue PVD titanium. The front and back are covered with anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while the dial features a blue mineral crystal. “Jacob & Co. Genève” text runs across the face along with the collection’s signature X-shaped element. Since the dial is partially transparent, several key components of the movement are visible from the front, adding to the technical aesthetic. Skeleton hands with Super-LumiNova tips indicate the time, while baton-shaped hands appear on the two subdials.

Turn it over and admire the watchmaker's JCAA05 movement in all its glory. The skeletonized self-winding movement contains 260 components, integrating the bridges, self-winding rotor, barrel and column wheel. The latter controls the chronograph’s functions: start, stop and reset are all controlled by components that are done manually. The movement offers an impressive 48 hours of power reserve, and the watch is water-resistant to approximately 656 feet (200 meters).

The watch also comes with a matching blue rubber strap with an eye-catching honeycomb finish, and a blue buckle made of PVD titanium. There are also two blue titanium pushers on the right side of the case, and a pair of crown bridges on the left for balance.
